OK, Internet. Now that I have your attention, I have a confession to make. I’ve been holding out on you a little bit. This is one of my favorite albums. And for you, it’s a nice mix of quality and obscurity. Just looking at the cover makes me happy. It’s another one on the Seeco label (see the earlier Nilo Lopes Bossa Nova post). If you liked the Perez Prado, you should like this as well.

This is a good record. As a Bassooner I am also a Saxer and I appreciate the balance in the sax section of this band. I can hear the bari as strong as the lead also. Another fabulous choice. By the way, has anyone heard of a record called, I believe, The Burbank Symphony. It is not a classical record, and it has a Civil war type photo on the cover. It has a lot of Contrabass sax work on it.

My Goodness Gracious! I certainly do love this blog!
I don’t comment enough and will start doing so more often. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all that you do.
As a matter of fact… I’ve run across a few records in the local thrifts that I’d already gotten copies of from you (and which weren’t in all that great shape) and didn’t have to buy them. You’ve saved me nearly $3.00 already!
I’ve recently come into possession of a pile of 78rpm discs and also have an old stylus onhand. I’ve been thinking about trying to rip them at 45rpm and speed them up using Sound Forge. If it works (without killing anyone or anything) I’ll let you know
