Going Latin

Going Latin and the brilliant Blue Ribbon Orchestra brings you hit tunes of the time in fascinating dance rhythms. Hear the happy sounds of strings in a boldly, modern beat! Explore the rhythms of the mambo, cha cha and more melodies you know!

Don’t know much about the “Blue Ribbon Orchestra,” but all the standards are here, performed competently, if a bit methodically. But you really can’t go wrong with this, and the vinyl is pristine. The first track is spelled “Taquila” on the jacket. Not really big drinkers in the Blue Ribbon Orchestra.

    Good find.
    Moving, too?
First things in the new place will be the shelves for the LPs?

    Y’know what?
The “April in Portugal” track sounds just like the Francis Bay version — I think it was included in the Dyanmic boxed set you posted a while back (but under another name).
The cover says “Blue Ribbon by Premier,” and Premier also released that boxed set.
    Hmmm.

KL, it’s the same exact record! I’m cracking up here. So, given this was posted here and here this makes the 3rd time this record has been posted on the site. I must really, really like this record.

That’s funny! They had a field day with those Francis Bay tracks — they were released on Omega, too.

I don’t think it’s as bad as those Luke Leilani-Harry Kapuuni Hawaiian tracks — about 27 releases on Premier/Coronet and who knows how many before that on the Spin-O-Rama/Synthetic Plastics labels.
I actually came across a collector who keeps an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the various issues of that Hawaiian LP.
Maybe someone is doing that with Francis Bay? It might be on the Internet somewhere.

Yeah..it’s a budget label release, so the same tracks were undoubtedly re-issed as being by various orchestras under various titles on EVERY label. I’d LOVE to see that spreadsheet on the Luke Leilani LPS..I have about 100 of them, seriously..I might be able to add a few things..:)
